Nick Blaemire Hustles Between Music and The Good Wife
Nick Blaemire Hustles Between Music and The Good Wife
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 03, 2012
For Nick Blaemire, the month of November is starting off on a high note and for the founder of The Hustle, (a nine-piece R&B/soul band that's been gaining a reputation as a must-see live group), high notes are what it's all about. This coming week will see Blaemire guest star on Sunday night's episode of CBS' The Good Wife alongside Brian Dennehy and Amanda Peet, followed by the wide release of his band's first single and video, "Complete" on Monday.
Although best known for his starring roles on stage (Broadway's Godspell, Cry Baby and recently, Dogfight at 2ndStage Theatre) and screen (Showtime's The Big C, Law & Order: CI, Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress), Blaemire's passion has been first and foremost, music. Thus, he created the Hustle with arranger and orchestrator Jesse Vargas, who he first worked with on the short-lived Broadway musical Glory Days, for which, at 23 years old, Blaemire composed the music and lyrics.
Blaemire created the social media hashstag #nerdsoul to help describe the Hustle's unique mission statement, which has become an emblem of pride for their fans. "We're writing music for the underdog, for the person who loves music so much that when they're listening in their car, cares just as much about the horn line as they do the melody or lyrics. Looking at the world their own way, trying to find an individual place in the world, that's what we're trying to get at with #nerdsoul."
Many have compared their style to a combination of artists like Jamiroquai, Michael Jackson, Average White Band, Justin Timberlake and Donny Hathaway. In the past week alone, the group's YouTube views and Facebook likes have surged to an all-time high.
Since forming the band a little over a year ago, they have played to packed venues in New York, Los Angeles and Arlington Virginia. The band is scheduled to play LA again on 11/8, and New York 12/17. Their upcoming debut EP will be released in early 2013 and is mixed and mastered by Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Mangini (Joss Stone's "The Soul Sessions").
