About the Author
Tanya Ragbeer was born in Kingston, Jamaica where she studied advanced level art, competed and placed second in the poster competition for the launch of the national Aids Awareness campaign, designed costumes for Jamaica?s national Festival group parade and Jamaica?s national Festival Queen competition. She migrated to the United States at the age of 19. Ragbeer attended Milwaukee Area Technical College, and Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design majoring in fine arts. She relocated to Atlanta, Ga. where she continued to design costumes for Caribbean Carnival parades, and eager to earn a substantial living, she entered the corporate world. She held many key positions including Marketing Director, Sales Trainer, and later Vice President and Branch Manager for a local bank; however, after the tragic passing of her first-born daughter Tatiana, she changed careers and became certified as a Professional Life and Business Coach where she fulfills a passion for helping others accomplish their personal and professional goals. She has always been passionate about her culture and is a strong advocate for Caribbean awareness, and in maintaining intrinsic traditions. In her spare time she continues to draw; is an avid reader; writes articles, books, poems and song lyrics. She enjoys spending time with her family and is the founder and president of the non-profit organization Transforming America Through Interaction (?TATI?), Inc., which was named after her eldest daughter Tatiana (Tati), provides leadership and scholarship opportunities for youth and supports disadvantaged children in the Caribbean.
