Melissa Manchester began as a back-up singer for Bette Midler, prior to receiving a recording contract, and headlining at Carnegie Hall, at Radio City Music Hall and performing for sold-out audiences across the country. Today she still sells out venues across the country and her music has served to establish her as a compelling singer/songwriter. Her songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Roberta Flack, Johnny Mathis, Kathy Mattea, Peabo Bryson, Barbara Cook and Mel Torme, among many others. Her international hits "Through The Eyes Of Love" and "Don't Cry Out Loud" were written for her by her friend and frequent collaborator Carole Bayer Sager, with the late Marvin Hamlisch and the late Peter Allen. Melissa received the Grammy Award in 1982 for Best Female Vocalist and in 1980 she became the first artist in the history of the Academy Awards to have two nominated movie themes in a given year -- "Through The Eyes Of Love" and "The Promise" -- and went on the make Osc ar history by performing both songs during the telecast. Melissa starred in Andrew Lloyd Weber?s Song And Dance and Music Of The Night, and as a recurring lead in the hit television series Blossom. She also worked again with Bette Midler, co-starring in the film For The Boys, as well as composing music for The Great Mouse Detective and she co-wrote the score for Lady And The Tramp II for Disney. Melissa was also the recipient of the NARAS Governor's Award. Please visit Melissa at http://www.melissamanchester.com.
Helen Reddy has had a life and a career richer and more varied than anything she could ever have imagined as a little girl in Melbourne. She has dined with the Prince of Wales, danced in the White House with the President, and has a tulip named after her in Holland. Helen has had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the U.S., including 14 singles in the top 10. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year. The first Australian to host her own one-hour weekly primetime variety show on an American network, along with several specials that were seen in over forty countries, she has starred in London?s West End and on Broadway. As a solo concert artist, she has played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Royal Albert Hall and the Palladium in London. Her starring role in Disney?s Pete?s Dragon continues to delight younger generations, while the lyrics she penned for what has become feminist anthem ?I Am Woman? are now included in M odern American History high school textbooks. Her memoir, The Woman I Am (Tarcher/Penguin), has become a best-seller. Helen retired from live performance in 2002 and practiced as a clinical hypnotherapist and motivational speaker in her native Australia for ten years. But after singing a duet with her sister at her sister?s 80th birthday party, Helen decided to come out of retirement in July, 2012 and return to the stage, much to the thrill of the California Women?s Conference organizers.
