Was a childhood garage band part of your middle school life? Did you walk around with a discman, in disbelief of how awesome your own music was? For many musicians around the country who did, they?re about to get their first big break. Myx TV?s Press Play proudly launches the voting period for the first episode of the show?s second season. This round?s winner will have an original music video premiered on the nationwide cable channel, perform at the network?s state-of-the-art studios in California, and experience a full launch as a break out artist. Who gets the big break is up to you. The polls are open from October 1 til October 8, 12pm pacific time on http://www.myx.tv and the winner will headline the premiere episode on November 2.
Check out the original videos by independent musicians from all over the country. Hip hop artist Patience of Atlanta brings his fresh style and urban lyrical genius with his single, ?Ain?t About Remix.? Hawai?i favorite, Mango Kingz drops their island reggae single, ?You Got Me,? in the running. This San Jose, California based band has been performing their signature island sound for 13 years and is scheduled to launch an album in early 2013.
Los Angeles, California hopefuls include rock artists Johnny Hi-Fi with their single, ?Politician.? They have released seven CDs since 2001 and have been featured on industry giants like MTV and Billboard Magazine. Britpop musicians of Far Out, debut their single, ?A Reminder? and recall how, ??a former head of Creation Records, who more famously discovered and signed Oasis saw us play and called us a cross between The Beatles and The Eagles.?
Press Play is proud of the diversity of music that will be launched which also includes San Francisco?s Brian Lee with ?Digital Suicide,? featuring Tossie Long. And check out urban electronic violinist CryWolffs!Violin from San Mateo, California. His single, ?Symphionic? joins the long list of original music that has been created from a home studio.
Hip hop and R&B artists drop their original music videos that easily rival the genres mainstream tunes. Check out ?Listening? by Motyroc and John J of Oakland Park, Florida, ?It?s Too Late? by Fairfield, California?s Jannel Candrice, and ?Dreamers? by Kato Dox of Austin, Texas which also features JKFilms.
O?ahu?s hip hop artist, Jazi with her single, ?Whatcha Doin? says, ?The world has not seen an artist like me yet - a 21 year old Asian girl, who goes harder than the guys in the game right now. My movement, ?LITTLE GIRL BIG DREAMS? is currently sweeping the world one person at a time affecting them all in the very same way: giving them hope.?
And as if this stellar roster of music isn?t enough, rock indie group The Nghiems from Norman, Oklahoma with their single ?Dum Dum Dah Dah? promises that ?We would play our hearts out and make you the best bowl of Pho you have ever had after you vote.?
Vote for your favorite music video for Episode 1 through October 8 and help your favorite artist ?get played? on nationwide broadcast television. The first episode?s winner will be flown into California for a chance to perform center stage on nationwide TV.
