An American Composer in London: Charles Bloom?s Music and Lyrics Are Popping Up All Over the UK City this Spring, Summer and Fall

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 13, 2012

American composer/lyricist Charles Bloom, whose songs have been recorded or performed by Patti LuPone, Michael Feinstein, Mandy Patinkin and Howard McGillin, among many other notable theater and cabaret denizens, is finding himself extremely popular in the UK this year just in advance of a long-awaited, fully orchestrated debut recording of his music.

In May, two of his songs were sung by performers vying for the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Competition, held May 27th at the Queens Theatre. Each competitor sang a Sondheim selection and one composition by a member of Mercury Musical Developments. Two of Bloom?s songs were thus entered into the celebrated Stiles and Drewe Best New Song Prize Competition, part of the same event.

?Why Can?t A Man Sing The Blues, brilliantly structured by Charles Bloom, proves a wonderful showcase for [Ewan Black?s] farcical abilities and will surely become a cabaret comedy standard of the future.? Jennifer Reischel, Stage Reviews

In addition, Jennifer Greenwood sang ?Easy? to enthusiastic response.

In London in July and October Mr. Bloom?s music will be featured in several shows at The Pheasantry. On July 1st, New Musicals Network in association with A Stage Kindly, presents Snappy Title 4: The Secret of Happiness, featuring two Bloom compositions: ?I Love Food/I Love Clothes? and ?This Lake?. The October dates (exact dates TBD) are full evenings of Bloom produced by Peter Auker for New Musicals Network to coincide with the release of Bloom?s disc, titled Music and Lyrics by Charles Bloom: IN HERE.

"The music and lyrics of Charles Bloom have delighted and impressed me for a number of years now - he is able to use traditional songwriting forms in such a unique and fresh way, something which never fails to enthrall me. I feel privileged to play a small part in bringing his work to a U.K. audience."
Peter Auker, New Musicals Network

Bloom?s recording features among others: Christine Ebersole, Aaron Lazar, Howard McGillin, Jason Graae, Gregory Jbara and Vicki Lewis. The CD is being Produced, Orchestrated and Conducted by David Snyder whose clients include Tony Award winner Ebersole, American Idol star Clay Aiken, The Manhattan Transfer and a host of other famous names.

Closer to home on June 20th, Mr. Bloom?s music will appear in the New York series, Concert at Tudor City Greens, produced by Raissa Katona Bennett with Musical Direction by Mark Janas. Award-winning vocalist Julie Reyburn will perform ?This Lake?.

Charles Bloom?s diverse and admired song catalog includes cabaret, pop, country, jazz and special material. For the theatre, he has written the book, music and lyrics to PABLO (about young Picasso), INSOMNIA and HEAVEN KNOWS.
