St. Louis Rapper Thi'sl Releases a New Song/Video to Encourage Women while preparing for a Concert with PGA Masters Champion Bubba Watson
St. Louis Rapper Thi'sl Releases a New Song/Video to Encourage Women while preparing for a Concert with PGA Masters Champion Bubba Watson
Saint Louis, Mo. (PRWEB) May 12, 2012
Full Ride Music Group recording artist, Thi?sl, has had the hip-hop scene buzzing with his most recent musical works. From his release of Beautiful Monster, which debuted No. 4 on the iTunes hip-hop charts, No.24 on Billboard Rap Charts, all while being completely indie. Now, with his music video release for ?Hey Moma,? Thi?sl proceeds to supply his audience with quality work that points to an even more superior message.
Thi?sl?s ?Hey Momma? is a video that celebrates the strength, beauty, and importance of women and mothers everywhere. As a kid growing up in the hood, Thi?sl witnessed how countless women in the community endured many hardships in an effort to open doors for the next generation. Overworked and many times fatigued, these women gave of themselves to benefit others. However, a lot of them failed to receive the proper gratitude and appreciation they deserved for the efforts.
?Hey Momma? not only pays tribute to Thi?sl?s mother and grandmother, who helped to raise him, but it also honors and encourages the women who are currently struggling in their attempt to pay bills, raise kids, and take care of themselves. Thi?sl urges mothers and women everywhere to stay strong, keep hope, and to remember their beauty, while also motivating everyone to appreciate their mothers and the women around them each day of our lives.
Thi?sl recorded ?Hey Moma? at world-renown Shock City Studios in St. Louis (Yo Gotti, Chingy, MTV Networks) and partnered with producer, Skrip to construct this classic hip-hop/R&B track. Adding to the already smooth record is the velvety R&B vocals of Fitzgerald on the hook. When pairing the sounds, lyrics, and vocals/visuals in the video for ?Hey Moma,? the encouraging message of the record is further displayed.
Thi?sl is currently working on a compilation album, ?No Time Outs,? with the artists on his new record label, Full Ride Music Group. The album is scheduled to be released in the Summer of 2012 and is sure to be an instant hit to the hip-hop lover and general music connoisseurs alike. Thi'sl will also be featured in the 1st Annual Bubba's Bash Benefit Concert, Hosted by PGA Master's Champion Bubba Watson on May 29th in Columbus, Ohio. Vassy Sings ?Beautiful Day? In New Album
Vassy Sings ?Beautiful Day? In New Album
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2012
You probably know her soulful and exotic voice from shows like ?Grey?s Anatomy? or ?Human Target,? films like ?When in Rome? or ?Cabin in the Woods,? or even from recent commercials by Victoria?s Secret or Chevy. That?s if it isn?t from games like the ?Sims? or webformercials from Dr. Pepper.
Vassy, whose Greek-Australian background lends to her unique voice, is as talented penning strong lyrics as she is embodying the message they contain. Her songs, despite their commercial appeal, are the stuff classics are made of. Positive and uplifting, they jolt the listener to a happier place.
But Vassy has a beautiful story also. She was born in a remote area of Australia to Greek immigrants, fell in love with Billie Holiday at a age young, and moved to the United States to pursue her dream of becoming a musician.
?She was my pure inspiration,? she says of Billie Holiday. ?I heard this voice on a community radio station and was like ?who is that?? She evoked emotion with in me, something that resonated so strongly with me, and I became passionate about her and American culture.?
But it was a lot of hard work. Along the way, that young woman, with nothing more than her Billie Holiday inspiration, would have to making it in her country, struggling to convince everyone that she had what it took, before she would come to America.
?I knew deep down I had something special,? says Vassy, recalling how she felt after rejections were thrown at her.
Despite growing up in an immigrant family where traditional education was valued, and had to make pacts to first finish her degree in Interior Architecture, which she did with honors, Vassy knew music was her future. She credits Billie Holiday and the women in her family as being the force behind her move to America.
?She?s the reason I?m here today,? Vassy says of Billie Holiday. ?She was a strong woman with many vulnerabilities. I have been surrounded by strong women in my entire life. I have an incredible mum, and my grandmother, my mum?s mum, is our soldier; she was a young widow and raised two girls on her own in poverty back in Greece. Women have always been strong leaders in my family and I strive to teach other young ladies that too.?
Vassy volunteers at a safe home for teenage girls in Los Angeles, teaching music. She motivates them and inspires them to believe in themselves. She often uses her life as an example, telling them that true talent can win.
?I am a living proof of that,? she says. ?I had no one to help me. No rich daddy, not using my body to get anywhere. I did it all on my talent, and believing in myself and my spirit.?
Vassy?s album Beautiful Day is available from iTunes, Amazon, and other major retailers.

Parliament-Funkadelic?s Jerome ?Bigfoot? Brailey Gears Up for the Release of New Album With His New Group
Parliament-Funkadelic?s Jerome ?Bigfoot? Brailey Gears Up for the Release of New Album With His New Group
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Parliament-Funkadelic and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Jerome ?Bigfoot? Brailey, has an innovative album coming out through Hoopla Media Group / LRT / INgrooves Fontana called "The Lovinator Experiment" with his new group Bigfoot & Bondz.
?Signing Jerome Bigfoot Brailey to our company with his Bigfoot & Bondz project is a monumental highlight for our company. I framed his signature on our company record contract, I mean really, does it get any bigger than this?? says Jonathan Hay (co-owner of Hoopla Media Group / Hoopla Worldwide and Jonathan Hay Publicity).
Jerome ?Bigfoot? Brailey is undoubtedly one of the giants of Funk music. Wherever you turn in P-Funk territory you are bound to trip over the infectious beats of Jerome ?Bigfoot? Brailey. Bigfoot will live forever in P-Funk lore, when Uncle Jam said he wanted you, Jerome answered the call and made his move from the outer regions of sanity to the inner sanctum of the Funk Overlord, George Clinton and helped the concept of Pure Funk-?or P-Funk?-became a reality, courtesy of "The Mothership Connection". It?s hard to imagine the sound of this momentous album without the fluid drumming of Jerome Brailey, who also co-wrote the track that epitomized the sound of Parliament?s "Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)".
Throughout the seventies, Brailey was the predominant backbeat of George Clinton?s P-Funk organization, sharing the rhythm chores with such luminaries as Bootsy Collins on bass, Bernie Worrell on keyboards and guitar legends Eddie Hazel, Gary Shider, Mike Hampton and Glen Goins. Along the way, Brailey had contributed to some of P-Funk?s most successful and memorable moments, with seven Gold and Platinum records to prove it. Who hasn?t heard of "The Mothership Connection", "Clones Of Dr Funkenstein", "Funkentelechy Vs The Placebo Syndrome" or "One Nation Under A Groove"? As well as contributing to output of Parliament-Funkadelic, Jerome was also to be heard on albums by Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns and Bootsy?s Rubber Band.
When the Mothership crashed at the end of that decade, the pieces of it exploded into new Funk and the first group members to jump the Mothership were Jerome Brailey and Glen Goins. Jerome?s group Mutiny issued "Mutiny On The Mamaship" in 1979, followed in 1980 by "Funk Plus The One", which served up more fluid grooves and massive critical acclaim.
In 1990, he continued working with such highly-acclaimed artists as Herbie Hancock and Buddy Miles, as well as his Parliament-Funkadelic allies Bootsy Collins and Bernie Worrell. In 1992, the world witnessed the birth of G-Funk as pioneered by Dr. Dre on The Chronic (Death Row Records), which leaned heavily on the P-Funk groove and is widely considered to one the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time. Chad Kiser (co-founder of Hoopla) asks, ?Seriously, where would Dr. Dre be right now if it wasn?t for Parliament-Funkadelic?? Jonathan Hay interjected, ?Dr. Dre should release a special series of headphones for Jerome, and call them ?Beats by Bigfoot? cause a lot of the classic songs, rhythms and beats by Dre are heavily influenced from Bigfoot.?
In 1993, Black Arc Records released O.G. Funk, "Out Of The Dark" the brainchild of Billy ?Bass? Nelson, original Funkadelic Bass man, featuring Bigfoot. In 1995, collaborations between Bigfoot, Bootsy, Bernie Worrell and the late Eddie Hazel appeared on the Axiom Funk compilation, Funkcronomicon. That same year, Mutiny signed a single deal with Rad Records for the release of, "Sneakin Up Behind You" which saw the first collaboration with album cover art artist, the British based P-Funk cartoonist, Howard Priestley who has also created material for Rick (Horny Horns) Gardner, Mallia Franklin, Bootsy Collins, Ruth Copeland, and Garry Shider. Fast forward to now, and Howard Priestly is also doing the artwork for upcoming "The Lovinator Experiment" and he is being assisted by award-winning graphic artist, Sabrina Hale of Hoopla Media Group and Urbanista Graphix. They have come up with an extensive booklet of original artwork (in both physical and digital formats) that will giv e the P-Funk fans all across the world something to get really excited about. ?It sounds so clich

Chicago Jazz Vocalist Rebecca Sullivan Debuts on CD with "This Way, This Time"
Chicago Jazz Vocalist Rebecca Sullivan Debuts on CD with "This Way, This Time"
Richmond, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Rebecca Sullivan came into her own as a jazz vocalist in Chicago, where she?s been based since 2006 and where she?s frequently gigged with guitarist Mike Allemana. Their compelling musical chemistry is the main event on Sullivan?s forthcoming debut recording, "This Way, This Time," a duo session that will be released on Rhyme or Reason Records on June 12.
?Rebecca has a lovely, liquid instrument, often evocative of Billie Holiday yet completely personal and unpretentious,? says saxophonist Geof Bradfield, who produced the album. ?Her delivery is so intimate, and it really works seamlessly with Mike?s inspired colors and textures.?
On the new CD, Sullivan mixes affecting interpretations of infrequently heard standards by Johnny Mandel (?The Shining Sea?), Friedrich Hollaender (?Strange Enchantment?), and Hoagy Carmichael (?Ivy?) with boldly personal versions of songs by the Beach Boys (?Wouldn?t It Be Nice?), Nick Drake (?Blossom Friend?), and St. Vincent (?Human Racing?). She also contributes two originals (including the title track, co-written with Allemana), and closes the album with Dave Frishberg?s poignant ?You Are There.?
?Rebecca really gets inside the lyric,? says Allemana. ?Unlike many young singers, she never manipulates the melody or takes it out of context. She knows the composer wrote it that way for a reason.?
A native of York, Pennsylvania, Rebecca Sullivan grew up with several music traditions?singing in her family?s a cappella gospel group, studying classical piano (and winning competitions), steeping herself in American standards from the 1940s and ?50s. As a student at Portland?s Reed College, she performed folk music on open-mic nights, accompanying herself on guitar. But her first exposure to jazz came in the unlikely place of St. Petersburg, Russia, where in 2004 she spent a semester abroad studying Russian literature. There she had the opportunity to hear live jazz: ?I had no idea songs could sound like that,? she recalls of that epiphany.
While in Russia, Sullivan put in serious listening time to recordings by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Carmen McRae, and once she returned home she was already on her way to pursuing a career as a jazz vocalist. She relocated to Chicago in 2006 to study at the Bloom School of Jazz, and also began attending tenor saxophone legend Von Freeman?s weekly jam session at the New Apartment Lounge. She made a deep impression on Mike Allemana, Freeman?s longtime guitarist. ?It?s so refreshing to find a young singer who knows these beautiful old songs,? he says.
Before long Sullivan quit her day job (at the University of Chicago Press) to devote herself full-time to singing. ?When I worked up the nerve to ask Mike if he would do a gig with me,? she says, ?I really felt like I was in over my head. But he said yes, it worked pretty well, and we ended up doing more gigs and eventually recording the album together.?
Come fall, Sullivan, now 29, will be starting the next chapter in her musical journey in Boston, where she plans to pursue a master?s degree at the New England Conservatory. ?I?ll be studying with Dominique Eade, and then I?ll have a separate improvisation teacher,? she says. ?I decided to go there because I want to be immersed in the intense musical learning environment they offer, as well as to improve as a musician and songwriter. Also, some great jazz musicians whom I really admire studied at NEC: Roberta Gambarini, Luciana Souza, Bill McHenry. And I can?t wait to be back on the East Coast!?
Rebecca Sullivan will be performing with Mike Allemana at a CD release show on Sunday 6/24, 8:00 pm, at Szold Hall (Old Town School of Folk Music), 4544 N. Lincoln, Chicago. Tickets are $ 12 ($ 11 Old Town School members), and may be purchased online or by phone at 773-728-6000.

Baltimore's Soundscape to be Recorded for New Musical Project: MOBTOWNmoon
Baltimore's Soundscape to be Recorded for New Musical Project: MOBTOWNmoon
Baltimore, Maryland (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
The Baltimore Soundscape Project has partnered with a group of local musicians and is inviting the entire city to participate in MOBTOWNmoon, a re-creation of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, recorded by Baltimore-based musicians.
Sounds can be submitted between May 15 and June 30. At the end of the contest, five clips will be chosen for inclusion on the album, scheduled for release in 2013, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon.
MOBTOWNmoon?s one-of-a-kind tribute album will use sound effects in the same way that Pink Floyd used them in its recordings. In the original album, there were alarm clocks, helicopter blades, footsteps and cash registers. On the new album, the public will be able to shape the sounds to match Baltimore's own soundprint. Tammy Black, Director of Communications for The Hearing and Speech Agency, states, "It's the perfect partnership. Both projects are uniquely Baltimore and promote an appreciation of the sounds and music all around us."
The partnership, in fact, was created by chance. Sandy Asirvatham, who, with musician ellen cherry make up the duo behind MOBTOWNmoon, read about The Baltimore Soundscape Project in a local magazine. The timing couldn't have been better, as the musicians were in the midst of arranging the first tracks for the album. Both agree, "We contacted HASA about partnering and everything since has been very organic, very natural."
For more information about participating in the MOBTOWNmoon contest or The Baltimore Soundscape Project, visit http://www.mobtownmoon.com/soundscape. Sound clips can be reminiscent of what can be heard on Dark Side of the Moon, or they can be completely unrelated to the original record. They just have to be clearly heard and interesting!
The contest concludes on June 30. The tentative release date of MOBTOWNmoon is March 2013. All clips will become a permanent part of the interactive sound map for The Baltimore Soundscape Project.
ABOUT MOBTOWNmoon: The groundbreaking 1970s music of progressive rock band Pink Floyd still has immense power to galvanize listeners and inspire fellow artists. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the band?s worldwide hit record, Dark Side of the Moon, MOBTOWNmoon will bring together many of Baltimore?s most creative musicians, from across many styles and genres of music, to record and perform a unique, compelling, and unapologetically beautiful interpretation of this classic work.
Created and produced by the respected writer and musician Sandy Asirvatham in collaboration with award-winning singer/songwriter ellen cherry, MOBTOWNmoon will be a dramatic, singer-focused reinterpretation of Dark Side, aimed to highlight the album?s profound messages and hard-won wisdom. Originally the product of the relatively young men who wrote the music and lyrics, the songs from Dark Side take up some profoundly adult themes of mortality, scarcity, conflict, and madness. MOBTOWNmoon?s version of these songs will highlight these ideas while never losing sight of the sheer cathartic beauty of the music.
ABOUT The Baltimore Soundscape Project: A creative initiative of The Hearing and Speech Agency (HASA), The Baltimore Soundscape Project is an interactive sound map that is open to all residents and visitors of Baltimore. The project began in 2010 as an initiative to create a more sound-conscious city, measuring the decibels at certain locations both downtown and in the surrounding neighborhoods. The map has remained online and has evolved into a community project with participants from classrooms, musicians and Charm City locals.

Jenny McCarthy Oozes Sex Appeal In Video With Bill Zucker
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
